About

Organization for Victims and Survivors (OVS) is a Non-governmental, nonpolitical and non-profit making Civil society organization Established By Victim's and survivors of gross human rights violations and conflict in the Somali region state, Ethiopia.

Established as Community based Organization in April 2019, Ovs was registered with justice bureau and Disaster risk management Bureau of SRS, On October 31 2022, OVS is also registered with federal agency for civil society organization (ACSO).

 

Vision

Victims and survivors of human rights violations and conflict in the Somali Regional State are recognized and supported to meet their needs and to contribute to sustainable justice and peace in the region.

Mission 

​To advocate for the right and needs of victim's, survivors and society at large within the institutional justice system to heal and rebuild their lives.

Focus Areas

 

Victim's Network

 

  • Focal point, networking and co-ordination activities related to victims and survivors in the Somali regional state.

  • Networking and collaboration with like-minded organizations, individuals, government and Non-Governmental Organizations(NGOs) on victim’s support, justice, reconciliation and sustainable peace in the Somali regional state, Ethiopia and beyond.

  • Awareness creation, public campaigns and commemorative activities related the victims and survivors in the Somali regional state

 

Direct Services

  • Assist victims in accessing basic needs with a focus on health, housing, livelihood, and education

  • Provide case management and connect victims to the relevant offices and advocate on their behalf

 

Advocacy

 

  • Advocate and support rehabilitation and reintegration of victims and healing survivors in the Somali regional state.

  • Documentation and assessment survey the root cause of conflict.

  • Advocate and contribute to Truth Justice and Reconciliation process in the Somali regional state.

  • Human Right and Democracy

  • Protecting women child and elders

  • Working to level up the livelihood of society.
